Playing 5/10 on pacific poker.... quietly up about 80 or so, nothing too exciting. Then all hell breaks loose!
I have AK.... flop 2 pair. Turn gives me 4 to the flush on top of that. Ramming and jamming all the way, what are they calling me with??? River is a J. Someone bets out, uh oh, does he really have it??? Yup, he shows me Q-10. $170 pot down the tubes.
Next hand, I'm dealt JJ. OK, maybe I can get back what I just lost. I 3-bet it and it's capped behind me. YUCK! 5- way action doesn't make me happy, but the players on this site are so unpredictable that I'm not neccessarily scared of AA, KK, or QQ. Flop is all unders and it's checked to me and not raised behind me. GREAT! Turn pairs a 3... good card. River is a 3rd club. Noooo! FLUSHED
NEXT HAND AA!!! Now I just shake my head and laugh, the poker gods are just teasing me! Figured I'd get great action on my 3rd consecutive preflop raise. NOPE, one caller was enough to crack me. Up against QJ, which flopped top pair and river'd a miracle str8.
NEXT HAND!!!! I get A-J in first position. Normally I would muck here but I'm steaming! Also I figure I'll get action all over the place, with my FOURTH consecutive raise, so I have a good shot at a big pot with AJs, which is probably better than what most people might call me with given my current table image. No such luck, only the BB plays. Do they not realize I've raised 4 in a row!?!? Flop comes KQx, I bet he calls. Flop is an ace of hearts, 2nd heart. I bet, he raises. Ugh, AQ? JT? I call. River is 10 of hearts! Whew, made a str8... and he surely doesn't have a flush... unless he raised with only the draw or KhJh (because Ax of hearts is impossible and JT of hearts is now impossible) into a board that I clearly hit and would likely call down. But, everything that could go wrong has, so I don't even think about a raise, but I quickly call........ and look at 3-5 of hearts!!!!!!!! NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
3 hands later, it's raised and called by a few in front of me. I come in with 9-9 looking for a nice flop to commit my final $50 to. BINGO, flopped the set. Flop betting is capped, I raise turn to get all my money in there. Third diamond hits the river... ugh... but it's runner-runner, maybe I'm ok.... uh oh a caller on the turn is betting out.............. NOOOOO. FLUSHED AGAIN.
This was an utterly MISERABLE 15 minutes of poker action, and I don't wish this pain upon anyone.... not even a yankees fan! Wow, so horrible. |

As discussed on another board, poker is a lot about luck and whereas I would kill some nights to have the cards you were dealt, they still might not be enough. I'd be on the same plane as you, perhaps you were tilted slightly after the first loss, but with pocket pairs as high as you got dealt there I would have played the hand whether I was winning or losing.
Bad luck there, although at least you didn't lose an excessive amount - $80 is enough but it could have been worse. So long as you still got a BR to fall back on anyway |

Eugh, that's a bit of a crap run of play for you. They were great cards and the plays were all good, they just still weren't enough to win a pot.
A fair loss and certainly not a great 15 minutes, but there you go - that's poker for you. |
