In a tournament situation when you dont have enough money to meet the blinds as it comes to you, (ex. big blind is $200 and you have only $50) what is the rule. Can you play with putting in your $50 and starting a side pot. Does $50 from everyone who goes in land in your pot.
This situation came up over the weekend. I have noticed that on PartyPoker will allow you to play with the side pot.
Any help? |

| yeah.. you are considered "all-in". so two different pots are created right from the start of the hand. |

If you in any blind position, YOU are allin, no choice. BTW, you are in the main pot, everthing else side pot.
If you are not in blind position, and you wish to play, you are all in, any other preflop callers, call your 50, making main pot, the rest of the bets 'creates' a side pot, for them, not you.
It's not good to be in that spot! |

If you have 50 left, the big blind is 200 and the small 100...what does the small blind do?
Do they throw 50 in "your" pot (main) and 50 in the other (side)?
I think this is right?
Any help? |

From what I can understand from the previous two posters in that you are right. The small blind will put $50 into the main pot and the rest into the side pot. I think this is right.
Granted...no one should be in this position anyways, but, it does happen.
Thanks for the help |

| Yes that's right, and am I right in saying that you can't win more than what you had in your stack? Hence why only 50 would go into the main pot alongside yours and the other 50 in the side pot. |

| You guys got it... but the other players have to make full bets... they can't just call your $50, they have to come in for the full blind (making the side pot). |
