| What is the penalty for looking at your cards during a no-peek poker game. We play a seven card game all cards are dealt face down, beginning left of the dealer each player turns over cards until they have the highest hand, then a round of bets and then the next player turns cards until he has the highest hand. My question is what is the penalty for inadvertently looking at your hand? I have a fellow card player who thinks the player should match the pot and fold his hand. I think the player should have the option to match the pot or fold. What is the correct ruling? |

| There is one of two ways you can handle this. One force the player to fold their hand. Or two force the player to pay the pot. These are the best way to handle these type of situations. Just make sure everyoen is aware of this rule before you start playing. |

| Usually the rule is you match the pot. As simple as that. But that is how we play not sure of rulings anywhere else. |

Match the pot here, too. Though I prefer to threaten the offending player
A little below the belt though in more casual games it happens a lot more than it should. Matching the pot with their own money was usually enough to put them off though. |
