KQ
Do people really tend to overplay this hand or am I just underplaying it?
I've always found this to be a tricky hand to play, as it always seems to be dominated in a full game.
Yet this hand takes me out more than any other hand. I don't know what it is about the hand, but I get called by this hand all the time in tournaments when I'm all in. I can't begin to count how many time its destroyed me, no matter how big of a favorite I am.
I notice a lot of the newer players find this to be a monster hand, even 9-10 handed. They will never throw it away, no matter what the cost. |

| They're two of my consistent losers when I put them into poker trackers...I average -2 BB with them. |

| k-q sucks. i've gone all in with a-trash and got called by k-q and won with ace high. it's wonderful. then they complain about how i got lucky. they play k-j the same way and q-j. two face cards=MONSTER HAND |

It's the best hand that has to hit to win...
Any pair or Ace doesn't necessarily have to hit to win, especially in a raised heads-up pot...but KQ almost always needs to hit...
It's not that strong of a hand...I toss it for a decent raise in no-limit and I toss it for a raise in early or middle position in limit, and always toss it for a re-raise in limit, provided I'm not in yet...
However, I do think this hand is worth a raise if you're the first one in...in a no-limit game...
I will raise it when it's suited in a limit game, in late position...but sometimes just call...gotta mix it up. |
