Hello - I heard Harrahs has undergone a facelift and cleaned the place up.
Anybody have any comments about how they did?

I'm not sure of the ins and outs, but from what I have read it sounds as though they have brought the casino, restaurant, hotel and other facilities together, created new walkways between them.
This, coupled with the inclusion of a few new bars and some new architectural work has supposed to have put it right back up there with some of the more refined casinos.
Then again, I suppose it should look good for the money they spent. Reading this article though:
http://brokopp.casinocitytimes.com/articles/21804.html it sounds as though they could have done with an extension as well as a facelift. |

Competition is the major reason why Harrah's Joliet needed a facelift. This is a major need for Joilet to stay competitive to other city around him.
This is a good decision by the management.I saw that they are allocating $27 million for this "facelift" |

| $27 million eh, that's a lot of money. I doubt they will have added much, perhaps a few more slots and a few less tables? That seems to be the way things are going of late. It's a shame, though I can only assume that slots are more profitable than the table based games. |

Sure is, I think that there have been a few more slots added but I'm not sure whether or not that was at the expense of tables.
I hope not too - it's a shame that electronic gambling is taking over, and I suppose the reasoning is you can squash more people on machines into the same space as a table, 8 or 10 players and a dealer so you're bound to make more money that way. |
