Hi All,
I have been playing a lot of no-limit tournaments lately and I am really interested to know how my thought processes compare to your average tournament pro.
I recently read an article in Card Player by Andy Glazer where he was discussing a tournament decision he made, and it seems like he has a ton of statistics memorized.
He knew likely holdings for his opponent (i.e. 2 overcards, top pair, straight draw, etc.) and also his odds against those holdings. Then he had his guesstimate of the likelihood of each holding and was able to calculate his percentage chance of winning.
My question is this: What is the running commentary in the head of a top pro when making their decisions in a hand? I know putting the guy/gal on a hand is an art, but what math/stats/ level of detail do the best players take it to, in addition to reading their opponents? Any suggestions are helpful. |
